Engelmann AI

Engelmann AI

AI strategy, grounded in practice.

I support companies from the first idea to AI in live operations. At Volkswagen I built one of the largest AI programs in vehicle production.

Where companies often stand with AI

Three situations I see again and again.

Someone should do something

There is no experience yet, only a feeling that something should happen. Where to start and what is worth it is unclear.

Many pilots, no operations

Some projects are running and the first results were good. But nothing goes live, and management's patience is wearing thin.

Everyone does their own thing

AI activities run in many units. Taken together, nothing moves forward.

Services

I work in three steps. You can join at any point.

1

Initial spark

A 45-minute workshop with your executives. Using examples with images and text, I show how AI works. You try out for yourself what ChatGPT and similar tools can do and where their limits are. Plus proven applications from business.

Outcome: your executives know the basics and want to make a first attempt.

2

AI dialogue

Two weeks of concept development. I talk to selected executives and employees, pick one to three simple use cases with you, and plan the project with team and milestones. I also sketch the target picture for AI in your company.

Outcome: a decision paper for go or no-go.

3

Getting it across the line

When pilots are running but nothing goes live: I sort the projects, clarify what is missing, and build the roadmap to an MVP in operations. If you wish, I lead the project.

Outcome: your first AI product goes live and keeps running.

How I work

Small steps

A bird in the hand, the bigger prize in sight. I deliver early interim results that are useful.

Close to the users

I spend most of my time with the people who will work with the solution later.

Honest and early

What does not work, we say early and openly. Then we learn from it.

No fear of compliance

Data protection and the EU AI Act are part of it from the start. It is manageable.

Experience

More than ten years of experience in business, AI and IT projects.

About me

Portrait of Jakob Engelmann

I am an industrial engineer. At Volkswagen I spent more than six years introducing AI in production, and before that I worked in consulting.

Today I advise companies on AI strategy and delivery. What matters to me is that something runs in the end, not just a concept in a drawer.

In my spare time I play chess, formerly in the 2nd Bundesliga. I co-founded the association supporting children's and youth chess in Saxony-Anhalt.
